Abad Plaza Restaurant, Al Nahda, Dubai, UAE

Spotted this place when we were looking for a parking spot to go to Sahara centre :) yes yes saving on salik by parking in the Dubai side. We went in one day for dinner and 2 days later for lunch.

Ambiance is just ok, I think they could use a pop of color in their paint job but clean. The entrance has a live puttu and appam stand.

We ordered Hot honey paneer as starters and it was good, a tad too sweet for my taste but yes something different. Dinner was my standard appam and egg roast. The appams were waffer thin and the egg roast was delicious the taste of the coconut oil coming through give its a different edge, I have to confess this might be one of the best egg roast I had in Dubai in fact! We had the nadan tea as well but that was such a disappointment :( tasted like plain water!

Lunch which we had here 2 days later was meals. I had the veg meals and my companions got the chicken biryani and fish meals. The meals were just OK, the rice they used was of good quality and tasted good. Rest of the curries like sambar, curd curry, cabbage side dish etc were just fine.

Service was quick on both occasions. But nothing special just the normal give food, give bill, no smile nothing to remember. Go there for the food only :)

Adens Aramana Restaurant, Qusais, Dubai, UAE

Visited them for a friday lunch and expected it to be full, yes it was but still managed to find a table in the section that serves meals. They have two sections I guess one serving meals where the banana leaves were already set and the other side serving Biryani and other food items.

As I said the banana leaves are set on the table with the side dishes and accompaniments. Once we take our seat the rice is ladled on and the curry is poured starting with Dal and ghee then sambar.

The curries are OK, kind of plain esp the dal no flavor at all. Sambar tasted better. The moru and rasam were good. Moru curry was placed in a clay pot in the center of the table. The side dishes were just OK too all of them tasted like the chef didn't put in much effort? :) The aviyal was awesome though! There were two types of payasam one wheat and other one semiya. The wheat payasam was DIVINE! My companions got the chicken 65 and fish fry as accompaniments and they said it tasted good, I guess they are better off at cooking non- veg dishes.

Service was ok, we were asked the first time to refill our dishes once next time we had to ask again. Ambiance is good, nice lighting and seating arrangements. Parking is available in front but during rush hours one might have to wait a bit to find a decent spot.

I have had better sadyas in Dubai before but will have to come back and try their other dishes like appam and drinks to give a proper review :)

Yellow Chilli Pizza, Al Nahda, Dubai UAE

So having read some good reviews about this place and also being close to home we decided to try out their pizzas and pasta. Parking is found in front and in plenty. Small seating area but there is an outdoor seating area too.

Interiors are a bit run down as the place is kinda old. We were greeted by an Indian lady who welcomed us in and handed over the menus.

I read a good review about the Paneer tikka pizza made me promptly order that without even having to look at the menu and my husband went in for the spaghetti vegetariana, the lady at the counter advised us to try the pink sauce as that is supposed to be their specialty. I ordered my pizza as a combo which comes with French fries, garlic bread and a drink.

First up came the garlic bread and french fries. The garlic bread had real garlic chopped on top and not just garlic sauce which made a big difference to the flavour, it was fresh and yummy. Then came the pasta, he pasta was great and yes the pink sauce was delicious indeed, her suggestion was not wrong at all.

But my pizza :( it was just OK I feel the paneer was crisp but no flavor as I expected. The pizza base sauce was nice I guess made of fresh tomatoes. and the cheese was melting off the slices but something was missing, some flavor I'm not sure what?

Service was good and the food took only around 10-15 mins to reach our table. Will have to go back to try other dishes as well like the frankies and sandwiches.

Aangan restaurant- Al Qusais- Dubai UAE

A medium size restaurant at the edge of Qusais almost on the border of Sharjah specializing in Punjabi food esp tandoor items I have tried the veg fried rice and lassi before from here but as take away and that was good, we decided to dine in to feel the real experience of the place.

There was not much of a rush as one would expect on a weeknight but still almost all the tables were occupied. The customary pickled onion, mango pickle and green mint chutney was kept on our table. We ordered the Masala pappad as starters. The tomatoes used in the masala were absolutely RED and so fresh it gave off a great flavor.

Next came the Garlic naan and paneer butter masala with Black pepper chicken. The naan was dripping in butter(just the way I like it) with a nice crispy sprinkling of garlic. The paneer butter masala usually fro other restaurants are swimming in milk cream but the curry here was just tomatoes and onions with masala which gave a really nice flavor along with the paneer which was homemade as so fresh and delicious!  My partner gave his thumbs up for the balck pepper chicken gray as well.

Service is good the waiters are a bit slow in the talking department but really attentive and the food took around 15 minutes to reach our table.

Really liked the place and of course will be back for more Punjabi delicacies!

D'fusion - The Grandeur Hotel, Dubai UAE

Not having ever heard of this place we were not sure what we got into when purchasing offers for Iftar online. We decided to do a small informal company dinner/iftar here. And after reading some of the reviews online, which were good I felt some what reassured about the place. Mr. Tony promised us some special dishes for the day. Mr. Kuldip also provided some wonderful service.

The place is not tough to find esp if your familiar with the Al Barsha area. The interiors are really well done with photos of yesteryear Bollywood actors and lovely lighting.

There were nuts and dates already set upon the table. A variety of fresh juice, huge selection of salad, hummus and bread with butter. a good variety of both vegetarian and non vegetarian food, raita, mint chutney and biryani. The dishes were quite innovative in fact, living upto the fusion theme.

With fresh baked Naan and biryani rice to go with the curries. A good selection of sweets as well dal halwa, gulab jamun, cake and arabic sweets! Yummy!

The service was very good as well. When we requested for pappad which was not there for a little kid in our group we were served them immediately. And the waiters are really attentive.

Loved the place. One would never know such a place even existed if it were not for online offers :( Please advertise more guys!

Nadumuttam, Al Karama, Dubai

This places interiors really does justice to its name. Nadumuttam means an open inner courtyard traditionally seen in the olden style of architecture of Kerala, India. The nadumuttam here in the restaurant is styled beautifully with oil lamps and an uruli with water and lotus floating in it.

The thing that would catch anyones attention is the place mat or table mat which had both photos of Mamooty and Mohanlal (to satisfy both fan bases) :)

We were served fry ums(a sort of southie deep fried pappad) with pickle and lemon juice. The pickle served with the fry ums was just delicious! DAMN spicy but tangy with ginger and garlic, I wish I knew the recipe to that one.

I ordered the wheat parotta and egg roast and my companions got the Dum chicken biryani, fish mulakittathu with Dosa.
Order took around 15 mins to reach our table. The wheat parottas were good but the egg roast was just wow paired along with that pickle mentioned above. The dum biryani and the fish mulakittathu was good too as per others opinions.

Service was good, we had 1 waiter and the captain coming around to inquire but this ultimately caused some confusion as we were given the second order of parottas again by mistake.

But the place is good and food delicious too. Would definitely go back there again.

Papa Murphy's Pizza AL Nahda, Dubai

If your looking for hand-made, right in front of you fresh pizza then Papa Murphys is your place!
Driving by in front of this branch its not easy to miss out this branch and I have been wanting to try it out for a long time.

The seating space is a bit tight but but luckily there weren't much people around. The specialty of the place is that we can choose our toppings and they create the pizza for you to take over home and pop into the oven, cook for 15-20 mins and voila your pizza is ready. They even have a mini store inside where you can purchase branded aprons, oven mitts etc.

But of course we choose to dine in since we are just plain lazy!We selected the Gourmet signature vegetarian in large size. Waited for around 15 mins and the pizza was ready.OMG the pizza! I could write a poem about it, if I were a poet :( It was delicious! Not the thick greasy cheese that is used by Pizza hut. But nice silky light yellow cheese which doesn't weigh down your tummy even if you devour 5 slices! And the artichokes just add a different dimension to the flavor all together. A large pizza was good for 3 of us..

We did not order any side dishes like salad or garlic bread. But we were offered hot and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for FREE! That really made our day! The cookies again a love story on its own, they were soft and tender on the inside by crispy on the outside. Fresh out of the oven and pipping hot.

The only negative point as such is that they do not offer any plates or cups to drink. Plates I can understand not needed (maybe), but cups are needed especially if your buying just 1 drink and plan on sharing it around!Love the place absolutely love it. Will definitely come back!
