Calicut Paragon- Al Nahda- Dubai

Calicut paragon is a place I do not prefer much due to the hustle n bustle not to mention because they are mostly into non-vegetarian food(me being a veggie). But this time we decided to visit Calicut paragon being a friends birthday(non veggie friend) .

When you enter into the shop you are greeted with the wonderful fragrance of FISH! Yes, fish indeed. Alright I should not complain much as it is after all a place that serves non vegetarian esp from Malabar which places much importance on their fish dishes..

We occupied a seat in the farthest corner of the restaurant to avoid the smell and voila the barrage of flies comes attacking although there was no food yet on the table! A small request to the management please install those fly catching machines (which glow blue light) to reduce those damn flies!

Started off with the main course.. Veg fried rice and Cauliflower Manchurian.. of course veg dishes are not their strong point, the friend rice being bland and the Cauliflower Manchurian was just ok-ok.

The rest of the gang ordered Fish meals.. Chicken biryani, Tangy fish mango curry and Meen pollichathu, which is fish fried with masalas wrapped in a banana leaf..

Previously we had the cheese stuffed mushroom which was good but quantity less :(

Service is good but of course takes time during weekends..

Ya Kun Kaya Toast

Alright this place is new to Dubai and this is their first branch.. We got enticed to try it out because of their 1+1 offer :D We tried out the Potato curry sandwich and chicken egg sandwich.. along with hot coffee and lemon ice tea..
The ice tea really has the flavor of tea unlike the ready made ones we get to buy which is just dissolved sugar :-/

Drinks

The potato curry filling was a bit salty for my liking but the waiters specify that's how the masala powder is sent from Singapore :O all their basic ingredients are imported from Singapore..

Potato curry sandwich

The service was nice and attentive.. they even gave us Kaya balls to try... and tat was delicious..

Kaya basically is made of coconut, egg, pandan leaves and sugar.. (well that's what the waiter told me the recipe was although its different on the internet). The waiter gave me some Jam for tasting OH GOD it was so tasty!

They even have outdoor seating facility but being close to a Lebanese restaurant there the Hookah smoke is unbearable.. :(

Lovely place all in all.. worth a visit for those sandwiches :)
